The Thicket
: : John Taylor  : :

no paths; or paths; no chosen path
*
or both paths equally traveled by. where the wood had stood, and
burnt, now high grasses, shrubs, scarred trees. signpost at this
divergence. hazy sky offering the same perspective, whether one
veers southwest or southeast
*
sunlight in the high branches, among the blossoms, but this—mere
eyesight. the dark path below
*
sunlight falling on the farthest field. here and now sown by the
shadow of death
*
seeking winter, a leafless thicket that can be peered through
*
leaves, bony branches, doomed to drop
*
only the remembrance of leaves lifted up by the wind
*
eyes still drawn to those highest-reaching rooted trees
*
up trunks, onto branches; dangling, with an impression of
levitation
*
better to venture willingly into what offers no immediate beauty,
no obvious geometry
*
as if at dawn, an impenetrable thicket could suddenly comfort with
its own hidden coherence

Il boschetto

nessun sentiero; o sentieri; nessun sentiero scelto
*
*
foglie, rami scheletrici, destinati a cadere
*
*
