Nachi Fire Festival: This traditional [sacred] fire festival displays the rich nature-oriented symbolism of Shinto in its full glory. Twelve mikoshi, or portable shrines, are purified by fire under the spectacular Nachi waterfall, near Kumano Nachi Grand Shrine.
